Absolute

The absolute is a product obtained from the ethanolic extract of a concrete, a pomade, a resinoid, or an extract using supercritical fluid. After ethanol extraction, the product is cooled and filtered to remove vegetable waxes and the excess ethanol is removed by distillation. The absolute is usually a pasty or viscous extract. Examples are jasmine, cistus, tonka bean, and tuberose absolutes.
