We transform myrrh gums into resinoid and essential oil in our production center in Spain.
Myrrh resinoid has syrupy notes reminiscent of licorice sticks, as well as resinous, humic, woody, and saffron-like facets. It is commonly used as a base note in oriental accords. Myrrh resinoid is produced through extraction with ethanol of the gum. The principal molecules are furanoeudesma-1,3-diene (30-52%), curzarene (10-30%), and lindestrene (5-13%).
Myrrh essential oil is a recognized analgesic and a very powerful anti-inflammatory. It also possesses healing properties*. It has characteristic moss, mushroom, and licorice notes. Myrrh essential oil is produced through hydrodistillation of the gum. The principal molecules are furanoeudesma-1,3-diene (30-52%), curzarene (10-30%), and lindestrene (5-13%).
We have a partnership very close to the source, in Somalia, and can thereby secure prices and quantities over the long term. This year’s gum-resin harvest was better than that of last year.
